Balmer Lawrie joins hands with Rotary Club of Chennai Mid City to Empower Girl Child
 
As part of its CSR initiative, Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., a Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, GOI, along with Rotary Club of Chennai Mid City has taken up the initiative to transform the dilapidated Mogappair Government Girls High School, Chennai. The Foundation Stone for the construction of the new classroom block, was laid by Mr. Viren Sinha, Chairman & Managing Director, Balmer Lawrie on 10th June 2015 in Chennai.  The new class room building will be spread over 10,000 sq ft.
 
The Mogappair Government School building which was declared unfit by Public Works Department (PWD) is being revamped completely to be developed as a model school.  Rotary Club with the support of corporates, international funding and local district authorities has taken up the responsibility to renovate and upgrade the school for holistic development of girl children.The stress will be onfocussed learning, vocational training, sports facility with athletic track, basketball court and state-of-the art mid-day meal kitchen. Almost 800 girl students studying in classes 6 to 10 will benefit from the upgradation.
