On 18th July Balmer Lawrie distributed 5000 water backpacks to the villagers in Barmer, Rajasthan as part of its CSR initiatives.The water backpack eases the burden of water transport for women and children. The water backpack shifts the weight of the water to the shoulders, relieving the pressure on the head and spine. It is made of flexible polyethylene with a puncture-resistant outer shell and a removable plastic liner that is sanitized by sunlight. It is an easy-to-distribute alternative to jerry cans and buckets, that village people typically use to carry household water.
